20 for 20: GHP’s Education Programming Takes Flight
From the very beginning, education and training have been at the center of the Green House movement. It’s not enough to build small homes; creating a truly elder-directed environment also requires a solid educational foundation for both caregivers and organizational leaders alike.
Recognizing the need for a more comprehensive education platform that supports both new and existing adopters alike, GHP formally launched its Green House Educator program at St. Martin’s in the Pines in Birmingham, Ala. in 2009.
This course, still taught to this day, equips team members at Green House homes with the skills to teach Core training – the foundation of the model – to future team members. This strategy allows providers to constantly replicate and reinforce the elder-directed principles that turn Green House communities into real homes for elders, family members, and caregivers alike.
Since 2009, the Green House education offerings have expanded into a host of internal and external classes, including role-specific courses, Best Life dementia training, and coaching courses designed to empower caregivers in their day-to-day work – and ensure that the Green House culture remains strong at all of our partner organizations.
Starting this year, we’re bringing the best of both Green House and Pioneer education to an even wider audience with our eLearning platform, coming later this spring. Check out a demo and sign up for more information on our eLearning page, and stay tuned for more education and training solutions from CFI in the year to come!
