The Alliance for Health Reform held a briefing on Capitol Hill in October 2007 to examine the effects of culture transformation on the quality of life in nursing homes. An issue brief, supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, reports on some of the challenges that have arisen and some of the successes, such as The Green House model. Panelists included Bonnie Kantor, executive director of the Pioneer Network; Rosalie Kane, professor of public health at the University of Minnesota; Jay Sackman, a consultant to the Service Employees International Union; and Karen Schoeneman, a senior policy analyst and project officer at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Division of Nursing Homes. The brief includes a list of expert sources and helpful Web sites.
